David was born in Hackney, East London in 1954, moving to the Hertfordshire/Essex border when he was two. He was educated at Chingford Grammar School before joining HM Customs & Excise.
He was initiated into The Temple Bar Lodge at Cheshunt in December 1980 and became a Joining Member of his father’s Lodge, Holy Mount, in Essex in 1983. They were initiated within six months of each other having been “recruited” separately by different brothers and friends meeting at a local hostelry. He was installed by his father in Holy Mount Lodge in 1987-88 and became an Essex Provincial Grand Steward in 1989, joining Hertfordshire Provincial Grand Stewards' Lodge in 1991.
He was WM of his mother Lodge in 1990 and 2002.
He was exalted into Walnut Tree Chapter in 1990 and was a Founder of the Hertfordshire Provincial Grand Stewards' Chapter in 1992.
He was promoted to PPSGD in Essex in 1993 and then to PPGSwdB in 2002.
In 1995 he was appointed Prov AGDC in Hertfordshire and in 1998 was promoted to ProvJGW. He became Founding DC of the Michael Batham Jones Lodge in the same year and a Founder of the Michael Batham Jones Chapter.
He served in the Royal Arch as ProvDepGDC in 1999 and 2000.
In 2001 he was promoted to ProvDepGDC and was honoured with appointment to PAGDC in 2003.
In 2005 he was appointed ProvGDC.
David is married with two adult children. He is a Freeman of the City of London and in his little free time enjoys reading, meeting with friends, and travel, which includes regular visits to ten specific locations in Hertfordshire.
